Help Me Understand Why Anyone Wants to Meet New Friends” on a Dating Site. Like the title says, I have read many comments from people here and see it often in online dating profiles where people want to, “meet new friends”. My question is: why use a dating site to make new friends?Why not make friends doing activities you like, at work, neighbors, etc? To me, a dating site is to find someone you want to date not a buddy to hike with, drink with, catch a ride to the airport. Part of my issue with the “meet new friends” crowd is that I already have too many guy friends who have zero interest in sleeping with me, why in the hell would I want to add to that group? I understand that I am most likely in the minority here as I read over-and-over again how people (guys mostly) are happy to go out for drinks/dinner “just to meet new people”. Why oh why are you on a dating site if you want to make new friends? It feels like false advertising when I am chatting with a guy and he tells me he is not looking for a relationship but is happy to be my “friend”.
